The aim of this project was to gain more insight into the concept of mode confusion, to execute an expert-based evaluation of its possible occurrence in existing AD(A)S and to develop a (proof of concept) method to measure mode confusion.
When an automated driving system reaches the limits of its operational design domain, a human driver should take over control of the driving task. A large body of scientific literature addresses solutions for this transition of control (TOC). Through interviews the present project explores the opinion of the automotive industry towards TOC solutions.
The aim of this assignment was to draw up an advice on whether and how an audit on the application of User-Centred Design processes (UCD) in AD(A)S development regarding the user system interaction could contribute to the approval of safe AD(A)S.
