Actor analysis Intelligent Speed Adaptation : final report
Presents the implementation of Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) in road vehicles within the context of public policy making. ISA systems take into account the local speed restrictions and warn the driver in case of speeding or even automatically adjust the maximum driving speed to the posted maximum speed. The reason for addressing ISA within policies lies in the growing expectations about the potentials of ISA to improve traffic safety. Much is known about the impacts ISA might have on driving behaviour, driver acceptance and public opinions. This has been researched within several large field studies in, among other, Sweden, Netherlands, and the UK. However, little is known about the willingness of those actors which are likely responsible for the future implementation of ISA. The result should provide knowledge on the positions of dominant actors regarding the implementation of ISA technology to the public authorities involved, in order to support the development of their policy strategy and to identify important issues for follow-up, in-depth research.
