Audit of the Dutch National Model : final report
Most of the transport policy decisions in the Netherlands are based on extensive quantitative analyses of the effectiveness and costs of alternative options. For the long term strategic plans the so called Dutch National Model (DNM) [= Landelijk Model Systeem LMS] constitutes the main analytical instrument to estimate the relevant impacts of alternative policies. This report investigates the appropriateness of this transport model and its ability to provide accurate and reliable estimates of the transport consequences. The main conclusion is that DNM (LMS) fulfills its objectives: to produce forecasts on the strategic transport networks and to make general estimates in changes of overall mobility at the national level.
