Mapping of sea bottom topography with spaceborne (SAR)
The sea bottom topography in a test area 30 km off the coast of the Netherlands will be studied with the C-band SAR of the ERS-1. The testarea has a simple, quasi one-dimensional bottom topography consisting of sand waves. This report describes the preparations made for the interpretation of the ERS-1 SAR images. Only the depth-averaged flow model has been considered, which is based on the WAQUA system in which the fully non-linear shallow water equations are solved. The results are stored in a data-base, containing time-dependent and time-independent spatial information and time-dependent information per gridpoint
