Investigation of local scour in cohesionless sediments by using a tunnel-model : report on investigations
The results of a local scour model investigation using cohesionless sediment in a closed tunnel with prototype conditions are presented. Two model scales with initial waterdepths of 15 and 35 cm were investigated. The two geometries tested consisted of a rough bottom and a rough bottom with a sill respectively. The main parameters investigated were the upstream slope of the scour hole, and the ra of development with time of the deepest point of the scour hole.
