Effects of beamtrawl fishery on the bottom fauna in the North Sea
Since in general little is known about the influence of the present beamtrawl fishery on the benthic ecosystem of the North Sea, the BEON members have carried out a study of the effects of this type of fishing. The aim of this project is to get insight into the penetration depth of the fishing gear into the sediment and the direct short-term effects on the benthic fauna.
