Oil and oil constituents : an analysis of problems associated with oil in the aquatic environment
The presence, emissions, distribution and effects of oil and oil constituents in fresh, estuarine and marine watersystems in the Netherlands is discussed. Shipping is the major source category in inland waters and on the Netherlands Continental Shelf. In inland waters other large contributions on the inputs of mineral oil were constituted by : transboundery rivers, waste handling, service stations and by accidental and illegal spills.
