Extraction of deposits in the Dutch Wadden Sea : a possible cause of increased turbidity
Investigated is the influence of dredging activities on the turbidity of the water. Fluctuations in suspended matter are not primarily caused by the extracted volumes but by an intensified erosion and sedimentation cycle that is initiated after the local natural equilibrium between channel morphology and current pattern is disturbed.
