Equilibrium relations in the ebb tidal delta, inlet and backbarrier area of the Frysian inlet system

This study presents the results of a research project considering the morphological and hydrodynamical changes which took place in the backbarrier area, inlet and ebb tidal delta of the Frisian Inlet after the closure of the Lauwerssea in 1969. Hydrodynamical and morphological responses based on the equilibrium (stability) concept are discussed. Different timescales at which the several large scale (for example ebb tidal delta) and small scale (for example channels) morphological units respond have been determined.
