Techniques and methods for sea use planning and management in selected areas : report of a literature study

The North Sea Directorate of Rijkswaterstaat of the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management has developed a research program regarding sea use management and zoning issues for the Dutch sector of the North Sea. This study is part of this program and contains an inventory of existing concepts and practical experiences in sea use management and sea zoning in some selected areas (Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Southern California and Japanese waters) with a view to identifying concepts and experiences from these areas that might be of use to the management of the North Sea.
