A morphological map of the Dutch shoreface and adjacent part of the Continental shelf (1:250.000)
During recent years the interest in coastal areas has been increased for several reasons (e.g. the possibility of sand extraction, land reclamation works or the effects of sea level rise on low lying areas). Because of this knowledge is needed about processes and related phenomena in the coastal zone. Within this framework for the Dutch coastal area a morphological map, scale 1:250.000, is prepared. The map shows the distribution and characteristics of major morphological elements below the LW-line like the shoreface, ebb delta's with related shoals an channels, tidal ridges and sandwaves. In this accompanying report the legend is explained. Also some ideas about the origin of the elements and their interrelationship are given.
