START-4 : testing and evaluation of a real-time congestion-prediction system
The general objective of the START (Simulation of Traffic for Application in Real-Time) project is to develop a practical tool to predict traffic flows and travel times in real-time using the information provided by the On-line traffic monitoring system together with historic and network information. Objective of the START-4 project is to evaluate the model system as it was set up in the START-3 project, specially to determine the maximum accuracy attainable with predictions of traffic intensity, speed, congestion, and travel times from the STM model system after it has been calibrated.
