Rivers : application of the SEDIBO flow model to the "Padbreedte Goot" report on investigations
The flow model applied in the SEDIBO computer program, is described. SEDIBO is a program to compute the time-dependent, two-dimensional bed topography in rivers. The flow model is an extension of the earlier applied simple models. Reasons for this are discussed. Furthermore the numerical method to solve the equations of the flow model is described including accuracy and stability aspects. Finally the model is applied to the "Padbreedte Goot", (a relatively large curved flume), to show its accuracy by comparing the computed profiles to the measured velocity profile. Particularly, attention is paid to the effect of the sopiral motion and a non uniform Chezy distribution on the velocity distributions.
