Feasibility study Suspended buoyant tubes : phase 2
This report contains the results of phase 2 of a feasibility study of the concept of a Submerged Tube Bridge (S.T.B.). This concept involves a strait-crossing by means of a submerged tube, free above the bottom, and supported by its own buoyancy. Long spans can be achieved by either fixed bottom-mounted piers, surface-pontoons and/or anchor cables. The cross section of the tube serves to withstand external water pressure and to accomodate the traffic.
