Bar Morphology Bornrif : modelling the evolution from 1982 to 1987
The objective of this study is to assess the possible relations between the driving forces in the inlet Amelander Zeegat and the transformation of the attached Bornrif bar into a spit. Using the modelling system Delft3D, a two-dimensional (depth-averaged) morphodynamic numerical model has been set up to represent the morphodynamics of the inlet. An analysis has been made, showing that the morphodynamics of the Amelander Zeegat are subject to forces such as tides, waves and wind. The processes have been represented carefully in the morphodynamic model. During the study period the Bornrif bar has been attached to Ameland and the development of a spit has been initiated.
