Towards ecological quality objectives for North Sea benthic communities

Gives a description of the benthic communities in the North Sea. Summarises the main human pressures with reference to benthic communities and reviews the cause-effect relationships of these pressures on benthic communities. Suggests indicators and reference levels to measure the status (ecological quality) of two community attributes: species diversity, and community structure and function.
