Raw materials policy in the Netherlands

Due to different policy lines the excavation of raw building materials in the Netherlands is facing growing resistance. The scarcity of materials will stimulate industry in their search for alternative raw materials, such as less scarce materials, reuse, and the use of other secondary materials. An introduction to the various policy lines influencing the choice and the use of materials is given. In the future the calcium silicate industry will have to meet challenges appearing from a possible shortage of the traditionally used sand and the striving of the government for reuse and the application of secondary materials.
