Guidelines for rehabilitation and management of floodplains : ecology and safety combined : executive summary

The study leading to this report aimed to fill one of the identified knowledge gaps with respect to flood risk management. In the first place the study aims at ecological aspects of planning and management, related to abiotic conditions; other functions such as recreation and agriculture are only considered indirectly. The functions of safety against floods and navigation, on the other hand, are given close attention by way of the preconditions they impose on river water levels and flow velocities.
