PRUT alarm model

The objective of the Prut Alarm Model is to provide an easy and rapid assessment of the effect of accidental spills in the Prut river basin. The Prut river basin is divided in two parts by the reservoir of Stânca-Costesti. Because of the long residence time in this reservoir (200 days at mean discharge) the effect of accidental pollution upstream of the reservoir is diluted dramatically and can be measured easily at the outlet of the reservoir. Therefore it was decided to model only the Prut basin downstream of this reservoir.
