TOX-plankton : comparative study on dosing techniques for hydrophobic compounds in continuous test systems

Hydrophobic organic substances are difficult to dissolve in water, and aqueous test media therefore often contain both dissolved and non-dissolved test substance. This leads to poorly defined exposure concentrations that compromise the determination of bioconcentration factors and of toxicity. The present study therefore aims at identifying a suitable dissolution approach to generate well defined exposure solutions.
