AVV dynamic assignment : comparison of assignment techniques
The objectives of the project AIUTO Dynamic Assignment are: 1) to test whether conclusions that have been drawn on the future development of congestion and the effectiveness of policy measures depend on the assumptions within the National Model System (NMS = Landelijk Model Systeem LMS) regarding assignment technique ; 2) to investigate inhowfar these conclusions change under varying assignment assumptions. This is achieved through a theoretical and practical comparison of assignments with two dynamic assignment techniques (3DAS and CONTRAM), compared with a standard application of the current assignment model within the NMS: QBLOK. This report contains a description of the background and key features of the dynamic assignment techniques ; data requirements of these techniques, related to networks, matrices, etc. ; the comparison itself, paying attention to theoretical concepts, constraints for application and their applicability for forecasting, policy analysis and traffic management purposes.
