Risk analysis of coastal nourishment techniques (RIACON) : the effects on benthic fauna of sand extraction off the island Terschelling, the Netherlands#report 3: pre-extraction survey, march 1993
The research programme 'RIACON' was started to evaluate the risk of shoreface nourishment and subaquous sand extraction for the benthic community in marine coastal waters. In the Netherlands the RIACON project concentrates on a nourishment site off the island of Terschelling. Before the actual nourishment took place in 1993, a pre-nourishment sampling programme was performed in spring 1993 including the nourishment site as well as a reference site. In this report the results of this macrobenthic fauna survey are described in terms of species diversity, numerical density of species, biomass of species. Community structure is described using TWINSPAN cluster analysis.
