Prototype measurements on discharge sluices in the Netherlands : Paper (subject D.b) presented at the 21st congress of the International Association for Hydraulic Research (IAHR), Melbourne, August 1985

The results of the prototype measurements for two types of discharge sluices within the Dutch Delta Plan. The measurements on the submerged culvert type sluice concern discharge characteristics determined by fluorescent tracers, by propellers and by an acoustic method, dynamic forces on gates and scour development downstream of the bottom protection. The measurements on the siphon type sluice concern discharge characteristics (acoustic method), air and water pressure inside the siphon and priming and depriming characteristics. Wherever possible a comparison is presented between prototype and model results.
