Stresses and strains in pavements : LINTRACK response measurements#identification of damaging effects of several wheel-load configurations
The relative damaging effects to an asphalt pavement, caused by fifteen different combinations of tyre pressure (0.50 to 1.10 MPa), wheel load (25 to 100 kN), and wheel configuration (dual tyre and super-single) were investigated. Using the Lintrack (Linear Tracking Apparatus) Accelerated Loading Facility, response measurements were performed on two 15 cm full-depth asphalt pavements. All measured strains were converted to strain ratios relative to a chosen standard configuration (super-single, 50 kN, 0.70 MPa). These ratios were compared to previous test results and to relative strain ratios for the same configurations calculated with the BISAR computer program. A circular load was used as input for BISAR, with an area equal to the load size divided by the tyre pressure. Influences of strain accumulation and relaxation, and of temperature and load variation were taken into account in the processing of the measurement values.
