Closing tidal channels in Bangladesh : an inventory
The increasing need for the closure of relatively large tidal channels in Bangladesh and the vast experience available the Netherlands has led to the assignment to study the local methods and materials, and to develop methods which would be suitable for the closure of larger tidal channels. Vol. 1 contains a.o. the main report which deals with: the Mata closure method, the developed vertical closure method, design procedure and guidelines, contractual and financial aspects, project management aspects, transfer of knowledge and closure works carried out since 1975. The annexes describe several closure works: A: Methods used for closure of tidal channels (applied in South-West Bangladesh and the Netherlands); B: Gangrail River closure (Case history, review and proposal); C: The bed protection works for the Madargong closure; D: The Chakamaya closure (e.g. data on water velocities) and Vol 2 contains the annexes E to H which deal with: E: The Madargong closure; F: The Amtali closure; G+H: The Feni River closure Dam.
