Rainfall generator for the Meuse basin : inventory and homogeneity analysis of long daily precipitation records

This report presents an investigation into the homogeneity of long (50 to 70 years) daily precipitation records in and around the Meuse basin (Fig. 1.1). These records have been made available by the Belgian and French meteorological services. Intrest in these data is motivated by the development of a weather generator for the Meuse basin, which has to produce very long (1000 years) daily rainfall series. These synthetic series will in turn serve as input for hydrological simulations conducted by the Institute for Inland Water Management and Waste Water Treatment (RIZA). Assessment of the quality and completeness of historical data is required to select the records to be used for the weather generator.
