Slope modulation of the radar backscatter by seawaves
Available sets of measured data of the radar backscatter as a function of incidence angle were investigated to study the influence of the slope modulation by the sea waves on the total modulation observed for the radar backscatter of the sea. This analysis suggests that much - if not most - of the modulation of the radar backscatter by sea waves can be explained by wave slope modulation.
