Oil spill detection on the North Sea using ERS-1 SAR data : preliminary version September 2, 1994
The objectives of this report are: to demonstrate the operational capabilities of the first European Remote Sensing Satellite (ERS-1) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery for oil spill detection; to determine the value of the ERS-1 SAR imagery for oil slick detection; and to propose an operational system for oil slick detection by means of the ERS-1 SAR.
