Value of Dutch travel time savings in 1997

Between 1986 and 1990 data were collected and Value of Travel Time Savings or Losses (VOTs) for motorised travel in the Netherlands (including walking and waiting components of public transport trips) were developed. These values were derived from models using data from Stated Preference (SP) and Revealed Preference (RP) surveys, CBS Onderzoek Verplaatsingsgedrag (OVG) and official statistics such as price indices and wage rates. In years thereafter these VOTs were updated using inflation figures and more recent OVG information. This report gives a 1997 update of the Values Of Time and examines the evidence for model stability and the corresponding evidence for any remaining trends over time (unexplained differences in levels of VOT).
