ICZM in practice : with examples from different countries : workbook 2004

Presents the results of the activities executed by the National Institute for Coastal and Marine Management/ RIKZ and UNESCO-IHE during 2004. This book has two parts; the first is a general introduction to International Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and the second part deals with cases. Certain issues of ICZM (safety and spatial planning related to safety) are selected and aspects of these issues are dealt in general in the case of The Netherlands. For the USA, attention is given to the evolution of ICZM as it is illustrated by the State of Rhode Island, dealing with safety management for natural hazards. As far as Vietnam is concerned, a much more general overview is given of ICZM activities in the country, in which international experts participated, also from the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.
