Antarctica : where extremes meet

Discusses the importance of the Antarctic ice cap for tidal and climate zones throughout the world. The melting of the pack ice is an important influence on rising sea levels in the future. The signing of the Antarctic Treaty in 1959 was aimed at offering protection to the ecosystem of the continent.
