Design of bank protection of inland navigation fairways

The collapse mechanism of bottom and bank constructions of fairways under attack of ship induced water motion has been studied from model and prototype tests. Transport relations and design criteria for subsoil, filter layers, and protection layers consisting of rip rap or blocks are formulated and verified.
