Environmental conditions and natural vegetation in the lower Volga Delta, Russia : land cover characterisation and monitoring

This ecohydrological research was executed on the seasonally flooded natural grasslands in the vicinity of Tishkovo, in the southern part of the Volga Delta. A major part of the study area is used for cattle grazing and hay making. Using vegetation data, sub-regional Land Cover Classes (LCC) were defined, using a combined statistical-expert knowledge approach.
