Holocene coastal evolution of the southeastern part of the North Sea : hypotheses on factors and processes controlling long-term coastal evolution: a literature review

Discusses long-term coastal evolution, the controlling factors and processes, the spatial and temporal variability and the interplay between the short-term and long-term processes. Investigates the existence of a long-term coastal evolution and if the presently measured short-term coastal changes follow or deviate from such a long-term trend.
