State of the art the applicability of STEP in the building industry

This document presents an introduction about Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP). In particular about the actual status of STEP (sections 1 and 2) and about the possibilities to apply as yet the current STEP-results for developing 3D- and Product Models for specific constructions (section 3). Section 4 presents four examples of the applicability of STEP. Offers a closer insight to STEP-projects that relate to developing, testing, standardizing and implementing: "Data Models for the exchange and archiving of technical (text-)documents and drawings, and models that consist of Product Data".
