Nesting of two-dimensional models for tidal flow computations

This report describes the development of procedures to nest the two- and three-dimensional numerical models that were used to simulate flow conditions at the storm-surge barrier in the Eastern Scheldt of the Netherlands when the barrier had been only partially constructed. All experiments were made with a modeling system specially designed for hydraulic engineers. It can be concluded that the modeling technology described in this report is suitable for computing flow distributions to be used for the design and constructions of large engineering structures in estuaries.
