Rijkswaterstaat is responsible for the maintenance dredging of the fairways
to and from the port of Rotterdam.
To that effect they make use of trailer suction hopper dredgers through
contracts with private Contractors.
The applied system for remuneration of the Contractor is mainly: "dredged
quantities in means of conveyance".
Therefore the T.D.S.-system has been developed by Rijkswaterstaat through
extensive trials during the period 1985-1987.
