Irregular wave run-up on various slopes and optimization guidelines : executive summary October 1994

In 1992 IBW PAN initiated an extensive research programme, in close co-operation with Delft Hydraulics and Rijkswaterstaat Delft. This short document is aimed at summarizing the findings of the IBW PAN test carried out from 1992 to date, and outlining the optimization guidelines stemming from these findings and additional supporting analysis. Our laboratory tests on various composite, bermed and artificially roughened slopes are almost completed, and the ultimate objective of structure optimization with respect to run-up and other factors will be reached in 1994. It thus seems worthwhile to formulate some general conclusions and share our present experience in the light of the optimization requirements.
