The effect of chronic and temporary saltstress on growth and development of four species of helophytes
In order to support management efforts aiming at the establishment of a dense shoreline vegetation of helophytes in Lake Volkerak-Zoom, the present study focussed on the effects of chronic and temporary saltstress, in waterlogged sediments, on the development of four species of helophytes under semi-controlled conditions on an unshaded roof: Typha latifolia, originating from the Flevopolders, Phragmites australis and Scirpus lacustris ssp. lacustris, both coming from the Lake Volerak-Zoom area, and Scirpus maritimus, coming from the Merwede River to the North of lake Volkerak-Zoom.
