The mathematical modelling of transport phenomena in the North Sea in relation to experiments
Transport of dissolved or suspended matter is an essential link in the North Sea ecosystem. A brief historical review of the studies on physical transport of passive materials in seas and oceans is followed by a somewhat more detailed description of the present situation, especially of the techniques to overcome numerical problems and limited spatial resolution in the two- and threedimensional modelling of transport and spreading.
