Methodology for flood damage evaluation

The research in Delft Cluster research project?Flood consequences ? Risk of flooding? is intended to upgrade the knowledge and abilities of the Dutch Engineering Community to deal with risk analysis for designing flood protection measures. The emphasis of the project is on consequence modeling and risk acceptance. The present report deals with the general methodological aspects in this field. The general aspects of risk analysis are translated into term relevant for flood protection engineering. It is pointed out that not only the various individual consequences like casualties, damage to buildings, damage to infrastructure, loss of economic activity, environmental damage should e considered as separate issues, but tha interactions may play an important role as well.
