The Dutch Continental Shelf Model : DCSM98: calibration using altimeter data

Describes into three steps how to improve the Dutch Continental Shelf Model from 1996 (DCSM96). First a short description of the geometric adaptations is given in chapter 2. Chapter 3 describes the calibration of depth, bottom friction and boundary conditions using both altimeter and conventional data. In chapter 4 the calibration of depth and bottom friction in the southern North Sea is described. The results of this calibration, version DCSM98, are compared to those of DCSM96 in chapter 5. Finally, the conclusions and recommendations are given in chapter 6.
