Research Framework for Dutch Field Operational Tests with lateral support systems

Describes a research framework for Dutch Field Operational Tests (FOTs) with lateral support systems that are planned to be carried out in 2002/2003. The reason for performing these FOTs is that the Dutch Ministry for Transportation, Public Works and Water Management wishes to get an overview of the risk and success factors for effective policy making regarding lateral support systems. It contains a description of research aspects (safety aspects, impact on traffic flow, acceptance and consensus, infrastructural consequences) of two FOTs: Lane Departure Warning Assistant (LDWA) and Dutch Evaluation of Chauffeur Assistant (DECA). This report is intended as the basis for request for proposals regarding the research of the FOTs and also serves as background information for the Industry/Fleet owners as well as international research partners.
