Mapping of sea bottom topography in a multi sensor approach : final report
Project intends to investigate the possibilities and limitations of mapping sea bottom topography with microwave and optical sensors, the relation between the two types of measurements, and its use for coastal morphodynamics studies, model development and model calibration. More specifically the main objectives of this study are: The determination of the range of hydro meteorological conditions suitable for the mapping of sea bottom topography from spaceborne systems ; The establishment of the possibilities and limitations in terms of resolution and mapping accuracy ; The development of procedures for the mapping of sea bottom topography using microwave and optical sensors ; The relation of microwave measurements revealing sea bottom topography to imagery taken with optical scanners in coastal waters ; The monitoring of changes in sea bottom topography in order to study its dynamical behaviour.
