Literature study on flood damage data
This report describes the results of a literature study on flood damage data related to the characteristics of the flood, such as the water depth rise and velocity. Flood damage comprises building damage, loss of human live, pollution, economical losses etc. Quantitative damage data of floods could be used in the Delft Cluster project to validate the modeling of flood consequences. The literature study did not result in finding any damage data which could be used in the Delft Cluster project. The reasons for the lack of quantitative damage data are that floods are rare (for a specific region) and that during a flood data collecting has no priority. It is therefore recommended to have a procedure available for collecting data during and after a flood.
