Sedimentary processes and morphological behaviour models for mixed-energy tidal inlets
The long-term evolution of mixed-energy single-inlet systems is analysed and modelled mathematically in terms of aggregate morphological parameters, such as the channel volume in the flood basin, and the position of the outer delta margin. By making use of empirical information on the equilibrium state of tidal inlet systems, detailed computations of the water motions and the sediment transport at the hydrodynamic time scale are avoided. The report summarizes an earlier elaboration of this concept to a semi-empirical behaviour model for the flood basin of a single-inlet system, and it describes a tentative model for the outher delta and the adjacent coast.
