Determination of the in-situ stiffness of base materials as used in the test pavement MEVA 3
Describes the analysis of the results of tests conducted on the unpaved sections of MEVA 3, a test pavement constructed at the outdoor pavement test facility of the Road and Railroad Research Laboratory. In the test pavement ten different base materials were applied. Part of the base courses were paved with an asphalt layer. Tests were performed both on the asphalt pavements and on the parts with only a base. The structural contribution of the base course materials was determined by conducting four in-situ tests (falling weight deflectometer test; plate bearing test; dynamic plate bearing test; clegg impact test), whereas in the laboratory the materials were subjected to cyclic loading triaxial testing.
