Shell herder trials

The Shell Oil Company in the United States has developed a new aid for use against oil pollution of water. The product, called "Shell Herder", can limit the spread of oil if it is sprayed around the edges of a slick. In this report the following subjects are described: physical properties of Shell Herder; prevention and control of oil pollution of beaches; Shell Herder oil spill-combating trial in the Geulhaven at Rotterdam.
