Towards a land-use transport interaction framework for TIGRIS : inputs from economic theory

The Dutch Ministry of Transport intends to update their land-use transportation model TIGRIS (Transport Infrastructuur Grondgebruik Interactie Simulatie). As part of the update, the model should be more solidly validated using economic theory. This exploratory research aims to provide elements of economic theory that should be taken into account in the model. The research is divided in two phases. In the first phase, described in this report, a state of the art review of modern economic theory is given. This stage concludes with directions in which TIGRIS should be improved from a theoretical economic perspective.
