SBW Slope stability : obtaining strength parameters from penetration tests

In the present report a procedure is formulated to obtain the vertical yield stress from field penetration tests. This research is a part of the development of a new method for slope stability analysis with undrained shear strength parameters for the safety assessment of primary dikes.

Investigating of this subject belongs to the research programme 'Sterkte en Belastingen Waterkeringen' (SBW) of Rijkswaterstaat. In the context of improving the safety assessment of primary dikes in the SBW programme Deltares is working on the development of a new method for slope stability analysis with undrained shear strenght parameters.

This report is a continuation of the research in 2011 on this subject. The aim of the present report is to formulate a reliable method (with small error margin) to obtain the mean value and standard deviation of the vertical yield stress from fiels penetration tests.
